We have exciting news to share! A few weeks ago Help Our Wounded’s founder Rosie Babin, also a Fellow of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, traveled to Washington D.C. to attend the foundation’s annual caregiving summit.

This was Rosie’s second time attending the event and she said, “It was an honor to represent Texas caregivers and advocate for all military caregivers, and to bring awareness of the issues and needs related to long-term caregiving.”

The three-day event was focused on the announcement of the Hidden Heroes campaign created by the Elizabeth Dole Foundation. “Hidden Heroes brings vital attention to the untold stories of military caregivers and seeks solutions for the tremendous challenges and long-term needs they face.”

Actor Tom Hanks serves as the campaign chair of Hidden Heroes. “If we want to be a nation that truly cares for those who have borne the battle, we must also be a nation that cares for our caregivers,” said Hanks.

During her visit, Rosie and the other Elizabeth Dole Foundation Fellows visited Capitol Hill where each met with their own state’s representative to, as Rosie said, “Put a face to the hidden heroes.”

The launch of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s Hidden Heroes campaign during this year’s summit was a huge step for the military caregiving community and helped create more awareness of our nation’s military caregivers who are so often overlooked.

The TODAY show featured a live segment on the launch of the Hidden Heroes campaign and you can even see Rosie in the background! You can find out more information on the Hidden Heroes campaign here.
